In Victorian England, a strange group of individuals gathers around a cosmic force. The story is narrated by Snuff, a dog who hangs around with Jack, a man with a magic knife.
We learn about the other players through their companion animals. Some horror staples are around, including the Good Doctor, the Count and.. Larry Talbot. Plus there's a witch, a mad monk, a crazed evil vicar. And the Great Detective is hanging around in various guises.
In spite of all this, I enjoyed the story. Something about telling it through the dog's point of view, plus the Lovecraftian references, made it work.
