Blood Bank, Tanya Huff

Collection of stories about Vicki and Henry--and, to an extent, Mike. Vicki and Henry are vampires. They fight crime.

Mainly this book was interesting because it told me there was a TV show based on the series.

I watched the pilot. It wasn't very good, so I guess it's a good thing the rest of it isn't available anywhere. Not sure why they made Henry draw comic books instead of write romance novels.

Here Today, Ann M. Martin

Ellie's mom really likes attention, so she does things like act in plays and enter contests and talk the department store into having a fashion show. Doris's three kids are embarrassed, but they love their mom. However, after JFK is assassinated, Doris decides she needs to LIVE, so she leaves her family and moves to New York City to be a Star.

Now Ellie's in charge of her family. And getting shit in school. And freaking out.

Man, Doris is an unsympathetic character.

Memory, K.J. Parker

Poldarn is just anonymously working in a bell factory. One day he goes to negotiate for charcoal, and a dude tells him who the five most hated people in the country are and Poldarn's two or three of them. This is somewhat depressing. Then an old friend shows up, and Poldarn runs away. But it keeps happening. And he keeps trying to get away from it.

Poldarn does a lot of running in this book, and it's all pointless because he winds up where he's wanted anyway. And people die anyway.

Lots of people are convinced he's actually the manifestation of the god whose name he's taken, and it seems he sort of is? Or he might as well be.

This is the last book in a really weird trilogy, and it's a bit more compelling than the previous books. Still not Parker's best writing, though.

Also I am beginning to feel that Parker has some severe issues with women.

I now have two more K.J. Parker books to read, and since one is the first book in a trilogy and I'm missing the other two, it's more like one. Oh well, I probably need a break anyway.
