When Phryne Fisher is asked to find out if a woman's husband is poisoning her, she thinks it's a great opportunity to emigrate. So she moves to Australia. There she meets her subject, who she dislikes, her subject's husband, who is an obvious prick, and some interesting cab drivers.
Phyrne also finds herself a maid, who she keeps from stabbing a man in the street. And she meets some very attractive Russian dancers and their grandmother, who try to get her to help them find cocaine smugglers.
It's all very exciting, but Phyrne misses some obvious clues when it comes to the cocaine thing. It felt off for the character.
When they crammed this whole book into one episode for the TV show, they combined some things, eliminated others, and added some characters. I don't see why you have to shove a whole book into one hour of television, but what are you gonna do.
